Other ancillary techniques
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture is often paired with other therapeutic techniques to enhance its effects. Below are some of the complementary methods I may integrate into your treatment.
-
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves burning dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) near or on specific acupuncture points on the body. The gentle heat from the burning herb stimulates the flow of Qi and promotes healing. Moxibustion is often used alongside acupuncture to address various health conditions and is known for its soothing and therapeutic effects.
-
Electro Acupuncture combines traditional acupuncture with gentle electrical stimulation. It enhances therapeutic effects, especially for pain management and neurological issues. Safe and non-invasive, it optimizes your well-being and natural healing.
-
Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves using a smooth-edged tool, to gently scrape the skin's surface. The gentle scraping motion helps release tension, improve blood circulation, and promote the body's natural healing process. Gua sha is commonly used to alleviate muscle pain, reduce inflammation, and enhance overall well-being. The therapy leaves temporary marks on the skin, which usually fade after a few days, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.
-
Auricular Acupuncture, also known as ear acupuncture, targets specific points on the ear corresponding to different areas of the body. This focused stimulation can address pain, addiction, stress, and more. It includes the NADA protocol, a well-known approach for addiction treatment and stress relief.
-
Cupping is an ancient therapeutic practice originating from Chinese medicine. It involves placing special cups, often made of glass or silicone, on specific areas of the body.
The suction from the cups helps improve blood flow, relax muscles, and release tension. Cupping is commonly used to relieve muscle pain, promote detoxification, and enhance overall circulation and healing. The circular marks left on the skin are temporary and indicate the release of stagnation and toxins.
About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine practiced for over two thousand years. It is a holistic healing approach that involves inserting incredibly fine needles into specific points on your body to balance your vital energy, known as "Qi."
When your Qi flows smoothly, your body remains in a state of health and well-being. However, imbalances can lead to various health issues. Acupuncture helps restore harmony and supports your body's natural healing processes, addressing both the symptoms and the root cause of your discomfort.
